In general the Nikon 50mm 1.8 does not enjoy the same recognition that a lot of the flagship Nikon lenses do, but it is still a quiet and very efficient achiever in its own right.
It does not fall down badly in any particular area, maybe the only bad point could be that it is soft on the borders wide open and perhaps carries a slight contrast deficiency too.
